Student Activities
You won't find a shortage of activities in which to participate at Brewster. Whatever your interests, you're sure to find a group that shares your interest and enthusiasm. Whether you're a movie buff (Club 25), a paintball enthusiast, a knitter, a dancer, or enjoy playing with children (Brewster Big Friends), there is something for everyone. You may prefer to spend time helping others with a community service project, participating in a school leadership position, or working on a local or international project with the Interact Club. Perhaps you just want to get off campus for a day of shopping in Boston, winter skiing, or seeing a movie ... the choices are endless.

Brewster Tree Lighting
December 8, 2009 -- The community gathered on Tuesday evening for the annual lighting on Lamb Green. Keeping with tradition, the senior girls sang carols to students and faculty while awaiting the arrival of Mr. and Mrs. Claus, who looked a little like our senior prefects, Marlowe and Sean. Mrs. Claus got right to work reading from her Naughty and Nice list, which elicited many laughs from the crowd. After the celebratory gathering, students enjoyed a pancake breakfast, hot chocolate, and cookies served in the Estabrook. Here we bring you a few video clips from the girls of the Class of 2010. Enjoy!

Academic Quiz Bowl
December 2009 -- The Brewster Academy Quiz Bowl Team competed in the third annual Pre-Holiday Academic Tournament on December 4 at South Burlington High School in South Burlington, Vermont. The Bobcat team finished 14 out of 32 teams with an overall record of 4-4. Brewster team member Franklin Holcomb was ranked 21 out of 162 players. "We did not qualify for the national tournament, but the team played well," said advisor Charlie Hossack. "We will have another chance to qualify this winter." This tournament was a national qualifier for the National Academic Quiz Tournament, which takes place in May. Students participated in teams of four and competed in four to six rounds. Each round was 30 minutes and emphasized the quick recall of factual material in all major disciplines, as well as pop culture trivia.
The following students represented Brewster at the Quiz Bowl: Marlowe Appe (Charlotte, Vermont), Zach Baum (Mill Valley, California), Kate Fridholm (Grosse Point, Michigan), Franklin Holcomb (Jackson, New Hampshire), Daniel Lopez (Wolfeboro), and Ari Peikin (Philadelphia).

Halloween Celebration

Spooktacular Events
Just for Fun Many fun events occured under the full moon on Halloween night at Brewster Academy. The students had a great time and stepped out in style from their dorms to the classroom on Saturday morning. Power Rangers, butterflies, lobstermen, tourists, superheros, Ghostbusters and impersonators were among the student choices for costumes. Prizes were awarded for the best group - to most creative.
Haunted Hotel Later that same day, our Sargent 2 dorm opened their doors to the community with the most wonderful " Haunted Hotel". Each dorm room was transformed in to a thrilling, heart skipping experience for all who dared to enter. This was a fund raising event that resulted in a donation of $200 to the Town of Wolfeboro Outreach program. The men of Sargent were proud of their community service efforts.
Children's Halloween Party The Brewster Big Friends, a service club dedicated to the postive growth and development of young children organized the faculty children's Halloween party. Games, activities, and treats were a safe alternative for parents with younger children on campus.

Ball in the House
October 30, 2009 -- Ball in the House, a Boston-based “mouth band” treated the Brewster community to a great pop, rock and R&B concert today. Their unique, layered, complex sound – thanks in part to the beatbox talents of member Jon – gives new meaning to the words “a cappella” which we learned today means “from the chapel” – a place where musical instruments were frowned upon. The performance was a mix of original tunes, cover songs, and short talks about the roots of a cappella singing and demonstrations of how this group creates its unique sound. The audience was loudly demonstrative in its appreciation of the tremendous talent displayed. At one point Richard Peters ’11 (Ontario) sauntered onstage to the surprise of the vocal group and the delight of the audience. After a brief consultation with those onstage, Peters performed a short solo and the singers graciously harmonized in the background. After the performance, the group sat with students in the dining hall discussing a variety of topics over lunch. Gabriel Oleinik’13 (Gillette, Wyoming) talked about his drum playing aspirations; Amanda Graham ’10 (Brooklyn, New York) got advice for an upcoming singing audition; and Jackson Callahan ’11 (Wolfeboro) spoke about playing bass guitar with Dave, a graduate of Berklee College of Music. “I loved the concert this morning! It was so much fun. … I thought the guys were really amazing singers,” Shira Braiterman ’13 (Wolfeboro) said.

Fall Fun - School Opening
The fall is a very
exciting time on the Brewster Academy campus. The weeks of school
offered an number of bonding activities to assist the students in
making new friends and building relationships. Dorms organized
BBQ's,block parties, and movie nights. Several groups went hiking,
glow-bowling, and mini-golfing. Our first dance was a great success
where the students wore their favorite tie dye shirts which they
created during orientation activities.
