2009-2010 Team

We expect this year’s Bobcat team to return to their winning ways, and be very competitive in the Lakes Region and Class C.  We only lost one player, Elissa Hoit, to graduation.   The returning players have been working hard on developing their skills in AAU and summer camps.  A core group of seniors will be leading the team. Kelsey Hammond is a returning captain, and this will be her fourth season on varsity.  She will be the heart of this year’s team, and one of the leaders in scoring and rebounding.  Two other seniors, Joanna Lawlor and Kate Rendall, will also play important roles for the team. Lawlor will be in her third year with the team.  She is an athletic point guard that brings defensive intensity to the floor every time out. Rendall joined the team as a junior, and missed the first half of the season due to injury.   She provided some much-needed scoring to the 2008-2009 squad, and we will look to her do the same this year.

Returning juniors include Taylor Booth, Tori Webster, Emma Jones, and Courtney Piper.  Booth was a captain last year, and her intensity was invaluable to the team.  She is a versatile player, and will be asked to fill a lot of roles, and we know she is up for the challenge. Webster earned herself playing time in the second half of her sophomore season.  She has improved her ball handling skills tremendously, and her shot is probably the best on the team. Jones has Rondo-like hands and she moves well without the ball. Piper brings quickness to the back court, and she also has a competitive fire that can never be overlooked.

Returning sophomores, Sam Hillis and Brianna Neely, will also be big contributors to the 2009-2010 team. Neely started at forward for much of the season, and she showed that she is an excellent rebounder.  She also has the ability to score, and we hope to see her be more consistent as a sophomore.  Hillis had some big scoring spurts in important games last year, and she will be competing for time with the other guards.
