The Bobcats played tough against the varsity  team from St. Paul's and at half time were trailing by only nine points.  In the second half, St. Paul's came out strong and built upon their lead by playing strong under the boards.  The Bobcats never gave in and continued to fight hard right to the end.  St. Paul's proved to be just too strong for the Bobcats as all 11 of their players added to their 75-45 victory.   Senior Isiah Pringle lead the Bobcats with 23 points, while Jared Fahmey contributed 12 points, Joe Melanson finished with five points, Jae Chan Park added three points and Jui-Cheng Tsai finished with two points.  Jacob Alden, Tate Ellerston, Davis Olson, Tom Holmstrom and Jeff Hauser all banged the boards against the big boys from St. Paul's, while Jacob Weinroth, Christopher Womack, Stone Lauderdale and Jason Frank guided the offense of the Bobcats. Boys' V B Basketball vs. Ernst Prep 12/5/2009 3:00 PM CANCELED Departure Time: Dismissal Time: Location: Boys' V B Basketball vs. New Hampton School 1/9/2010 2:30 PM L 40 - 61 Departure Time: Dismissal Time: Location: The Brewster boys varsity B basketball team had their first home game against a strong New Hampton team on Saturday.  The boys from Brewster were neck and neck with New Hampton through the first half of play.  During the second half of play Brewster came out cold and had a difficult time finding the hoop while the New Hampton team slowly pulled away with a 61-40 victory.  The Brewster squad was led by Isiah Pringle with 21 points, Richie Peters with 8 points, Stone Lauderdale with 7 points, Joe Melanson with 4 points. Richie Peters lead all players with 8 rebounds and 6 blocked shots, Jake Weinroth contributed with 3 rebounds and recovered one loose ball, while Joe Melanson had 4 rebounds, 3 blocked shots and one steal.  Ian Klarman led the team at point guard and had 2 rebounds and one steal.  The Brewster team will be traveling Wednesday (01/13) to Kent's Hill in Maine. Boys' V B Basketball at Kents Hill School 1/13/2010 3:30 PM W 70 - 61 Departure Time: Dismissal Time: Location: The Brewster Academy boy's varsity B basketball team traveled up to Kents Hill School in Maine today and departed with their first season victory, 70-61.  The Kents Hill team proved to be a formidable opponent and kept the game close from start to finish.  In the closing minutes of the game Kents Hill narrowed the Brewster lead down to three points.  Isiah Pringle took control of the ball at this point and forced the Kents Hill team no other option than to foul him in the closing moments of the game, whereby Pringle sank every foul shot opportunity that he was given. Pringle led the Brewster Bobcats with 28 points and Stone Lauderdale followed close behind with 23 points.  Pringle and Lauderdale combined for eight three point baskets during the course of the game.  On the defensive and offensive ends of the floor Richie Peters dominated the boards and led the team in rebounds and blocked shots and also contributed with nine points of his own.  Jake Weinroth played an essential role at point guard in the early stages of the game and scored six points, but none more important than two free throws that he added as Kents Hill was threatening to take the lead in the second half.  Jeff Hauser, who was Brewster's co-captain for the game, came in and relieved Peters at center during crucial times of the contest. Davis Olson and Joe Melanson shared defensive responsibilities at the power forward position.  Most impressive for Brewster was their 90% free throw shooting, which ended up being the difference in the game's final score. Boys' V B Basketball at Cushing Academy JV 1/16/2010 1:00 PM W 59 - 37 Departure Time: Dismissal Time: Location: The Brewster varsity B boys' basketball team traveled to Cushing Academy, in Ashburnham, Massachusetts on January 16.  The Cushing team proved to be a very feisty and tough competitor but the Brewster boys were just too much for the host team to handle and walked away with a 59 to 37 victory.  The Bobcats were once again led by the scoring of Isiah Pringle with 17 points.  Richie Peters again dominated both the offensive and defensive boards, as well as adding 12 points. Stone Lauderdale played a tough defense and scored 10 points.  The most impressive factor in today's game was that the scoring was spread out amongst numerous members from the Brewster squad:  Jae-Chan Park had five points, Chris Womack added four points, Jeff Hauser sank a three pointer, Joe Melanson and Jake Weinroth both had two points each and Jason Frank finished up the scoring with two free throws.  The varsity B squad's record is now 2 and 2. The Bobcats travel to face a very tough Hebron Academy team this coming Wednesday. Boys' V B Basketball at Hebron Academy 1/20/2010 4:00 PM L 56 - 64 Departure Time: Dismissal Time: Location: On January 20, the varsity B boy's basketball team traveled to Hebron Academy. The Bobcats came out very strong and took a 15 point lead early in the game and it appeared as though they were going to walk away with this game.  Hebron had other ideas and began to slowly reduce the large deficit and at the half-way point in the game the Brewster lead was reduced to three points.  During the second half Hebron turned the tables on Brewster by playing a very tough defense and coming alive offensively.  The once hot shooters from Brewster cooled down and the Hebron boys took over the lead which they held onto for a final score of 64 to 56.  Brewster was lead by team captain Joe Melanson with 17 points, Isiah Pringle with 16 points and Stone Lauderdale with 15 points.  Also contributing were Jake Weinroth with six points and Chris Womack with two points.  Davis Olson, Jae-Chan Park, Gary Tsai, and Jason Frank all played valuable minutes during the contest.  Brewster will again be on the road this Saturday as they travel to Dublin for a 4:30 game.  Boys' V B Basketball at Dublin School 1/23/2010 4:30 PM L 30 - 48 Departure Time: Dismissal Time: Location: Boys' V B Basketball vs. Cardigan Mountain School 1/27/2010 4:30 PM W 60 - 48 Departure Time: Dismissal Time: Location: On Wednesday January 27, Brewster returned to their home court to face Cardigan Mountain School.  Being home again proved to be just the advantage the Bobcats had been looking for to get back on the winning track.  Cardigan Mountain proved to be a very worthy opponent but the persistent Brewster team prevailed with a 60 to 48 victory.  The Bobcats were lead by Isiah Pringle with 25 points, Joe Melanson with 11, Stone Lauderdale with 10, Jeff Hauser with 5, Jake Weinroth with 4, Davis Olson with 3 and Gary Tsai with 2.  The Brewster team received great support and relief from their bench with valuable minutes played by Ian Klarman, Chris Womack, Jae-Chen Park and Bobby McSweeney.  The Bobcats will again be home this Saturday to face a very tough Vermont Academy.    Boys' V B Basketball vs. Vermont Academy 1/30/2010 4:45 PM L 69 - 91 Departure Time: Dismissal Time: Location: The Brewster varsity B boy's basketball team faced a very strong Vermont Academy varsity basketball squad on January 30.  Although the Bobcats were outmatched they never gave up and played strong to the end. Both Brewster coaches walked away from the game seeing bright spots from their squad and areas of improvement that they had not seen prior to this game.  Isiah Pringle (30 points), Joe Melanson (16 points) and Stone Lauderdale (15 points) narrowed the wide margin that Vermont had in the first half, but in the second half the Vermont team wore down the Brewster defense.  Davis Olson had one of his better games of the season hitting the boards hard and contributing with four points.  Jake Weinroth (two points) and Ian Klarman (two points) completed the scoring for Brewster.  Jeff Hauser, Chris Womack, Gary Tsai, Jae-Chan Park, Bobby McSweeney and Jason Frank all saw action and were valuable contributors.  The Brewster team plays next on Wednesday at home with a rematch against Hebron Academy who they fell to during their initial match earlier in the season by eight points.    Boys' V B Basketball vs. Hebron Academy 2/3/2010 4:00 PM L 48 - 74 Departure Time: Dismissal Time: Location: The Brewster Varsity B boys faced a Hebron team that came to play from the first jump ball.  Hebron jumped out to an early lead and never looked back throughout the game, as they easily defeated the Bobcats 74 to 48. Isiah Pringle led the Brewster squad in scoring with 29 points and team captain Joe Melanson contributed with 13 points.  Ian Klarman stood out on defense throughout the game with his excellent hustle and determination.  Brewster will travel next to the New Hampton School on February 10th for a 3:00 PM tipoff. Boys' V B Basketball at New Hampton School 2/10/2010 3:00 PM L 66 - 78 Departure Time: Dismissal Time: Location: The Brewster boys varsity B basketball team faced off against the Lakes Region dominating varsity B squad from New Hampton.  When Brewster played New Hampton at home earlier in the season they were trounced by 21 points, but this game at New Hampton was a different game right out of the gate.  The first half was a back and forth fight and at half time the Bobcats were down by just one point.  The second half proved to be just as close right up until the end when New Hampton pulled away and won by 12 points. Once again the Bobcats were lead by Isiah Pringle, who was in a zone, and scored 39 points.  Richy Peters dominated the boards for Brewster and also contributed with 16 points. Joe Melanson added six points and was solid defensively.  The quick hands and feet of Ian Klarman and Jake Weinroth on the defensive side of the ball slowed the preferred fast tempo of New Hampton squad down to a dogfight between the two teams.  Davis Olson, Jason Frank and Bobby McSweeny all came off the bench and were major contributors both defensively and offensively.  Brewster travels to Cardigan Mountain this coming Saturday. Boys' V B Basketball at Cardigan Mountain School 2/13/2010 4:30 PM W 78 - 55 Departure Time: Dismissal Time: Location: Brewster traveled across the state to Cardigan Mountain School on Saturday. The Bobcats made the trip worth while as they walked away with a 78 to 55 victory.  The young men from Caridgan Mountain kept it close for the first half of the game, but Brewster proved to be just too strong during the second half and extended their lead to an easy victory.  Isiah Pringle once again lead all scorers by scoring an impressive 45 points. Joe Melanson contributed with 12 points and Ian Klarman continued with his defensive prowess and added eight points of his own.  Jeff Hauser, Jake Weinroth, Davis Olson and Bobby McSweeney rounded off the remainder of the scoring for Brewster.  Jae-Chan Park and Jason Frank also saw action for the Bobcats. Boys' V B Basketball at Tilton School 2/17/2010 2:00 PM W 54 - 41 Departure Time: Dismissal Time: Location: The Brewster varsity B boy's basketball team traveled to the Tilton School on Wednesday and came away with a 54 to 41 victory.  Both coaches for Brewster were quite pleased with their player's performance.  Fortunately for Brewster they were able to play some of their players that had not seen a whole lot of action during the season and they rose to the occasion.  Starting for Brewster was Ian Klarman, Gary Tsai, Jae-Chan Park, Jeff Hauser and Joe Melanson.  Chris Womack was the sixth man for today's game.  Jake Weinroth led the Bobcats with 10 points, followed closely behind by Jae-Chan Park and Stone Lauderdale each with nine points.  Bobby McSweeney, who recently was moved up from the JV squad added four points of his own and was a tough defender throughout the game  The Varsity B will conclude their season, at home, next Wednesday against a very tough opponent, Kents Hill.
