Matt Found
Matt
started skiing as soon as he could walk and perfected his early skills on the
Skimobile at Cranmore mountain. He started his pursuit of ski racing at age 8 and by 14 was
ranked first in the country at giant slalom and second in
slalom in his age group. Matt
later went on to compete both domestically and internationally and competed
with the US Ski Team’s National Training Group for three years. In college, at the University of New
Hampshire, Matt earned both All-East and All-American honors at the NCAA championships
as both a freshman and sophomore.
After his
competitive career, Matt coached ski racing for 14 years at a “winter feeder”
program for the US Ski Team.
Through those years he was able to help place five athletes on the US Ski
Team and coached/organized numerous summer and fall training camps in Austria,
Germany, and Italy. He has held
several official designations over the years and has been active in the New Hampshire
coach’s council.
Matt’s goal
in coaching young athletes is to help each athlete reach his or her potential
through preparation, attention to fundamental skills, working hard, and having
fun.
Matt teaches
chemistry and lives on campus with his wife Maria and their children Gunner, 12, and Anya, 9. Maria is a math teacher and the community life parent in Avery House.
