It's hard to believe that it's been more than 10 years since I sailed out of Brewster's Journalism Studio and off to the Bahamas on my second sabbatical aboard "Cat's Cradle." On my return the following year, hopelessly confused and disinterested in unfriendly computers, I retreated across the street to set up shop in the Alumni Office.

I found it was rewarding to help alums hook up with classmates after years of lost addresses and disconnected phones. With the help of a satellite phone, fax machine, and finally a computer, I was again able to sail off to the Bahamas and establish "Brewster South" on Eleuthera where I have my own "alumni office."
