Favorite Brewster Academy experience...
My favorite Brewster experience would be the first time I ever put on the bobcat suit. I was having a prank war with a friend and it ended up with me becoming the school mascot. I was sitting with my good friend Derek senor at a varsity basketball game. Derek is a “super fan” and paints himself red and blue at all the varsity basketball games. I saw the “prank war” friend come in so I said to Derek “man, I’d do anything to get away. I’d even get in the bobcat suit!” He pretty much took that to heart and took me to the equipment room and put me in the suit. After that I walked around the gym with the Bobcat suit on and got a lot of high fives and “who’s in there?” The rest is history, and what was started as a joke has became a big thing in my life.
Advice to new students…
Don’t be afraid to act yourself. If you are hesitant because of what other people think of you then you don’t have to worry about it here. I came to Brewster as an outgoing nutball and I couldn’t be happier. Also, don’t be afraid to try new things. Brewster is filled with so many opportunities that I can’t even count. I’ve joined countless clubs and even became the school mascot.
Favorite BA moment(s)...
My first would have to be the beginning of sophmore year. I was new to the school but that didn’t stop me from wearing something that was memorable. I wore a seer sucker shirt and sport coat with a bright red bow tie. Before lunch I was confronted by a lady who I didn’t know at the time and she said “I love your bow tie mind if we take some pictures of it?” I said “sure” but then she told me to meet her in the Estabrook with the photographer. I was a little confused but I did it anyway. I went and me and five other upperclassmen who I had never seen before walked down to the boathouse. Little did I know that I would be walking next to one of the most beautiful girls in school and be taking a picture with her. Finally, after about a year my bright red bow tie ended up in the Brewster Academy viewbook. Another one would be the HOWL trip to UNH. I didn’t know what to expect but it was amazing. We sang Beethoven’s Symphony Mass in C with about a 150 other people. It was an amazing full day of singing with new people and with new music. Our HOWL group only knew a fifth of the song but it was ok. The show was amazing and it was something I will never forget.
