Hall of Fame Criteria

Statement of Purpose

To recognize members of the Brewster Academy family who have distinguished themselves as outstanding contributors to athletics at Brewster Academy, and possibly beyond, by instilling a continuing commitment to, and the promotion of, the values and philosophy of sportsmanship including fairness, dedication, perseverance, winning without boasting and losing without excuse.

Members of the Athletic Hall of Fame Committee

  1. The Athletic Hall of Fame Committee will consist of a minimum of three (3) members including:
    1. Current Athletic Director of Brewster Academy and/or his or her appointed representative.
    2. At least one Development/Advancement Office representative.
    3. At least one at-large representative of the Brewster community selected by the Development/Advancement Office.
  2. All committee members have full voting privileges concerning committee actions.
  3. The official year of the committee will be Brewster Academy's fiscal year.
  4. The purpose of the committee is to review nominees for the Athletic Hall of Fame and select inductees into the Athletic Hall of Fame.

Qualifications for the Brewster Academy Athletic Hall of Fame

A person may qualify for the Athletic Hall of Fame by falling into one or more of the following categories, including post humus:

  1. Those who have participated in Brewster athletics, having earned a letter in a particular sport. In addition, the individual also may have received all conference, region, or all-American honors.
  2. A Brewster alumnus/na who participated in Brewster athletics, two years in college athletics, or has attained a profession in athletics.
  3. Former athletic coaches at Brewster Academy.
  4. Those who have given meritorious service or have been a loyal friend to the Brewster athletic program.

Selection process and recognition

  1. Names for nominations may be submitted to the committee at any time by any one.
  2. Members of the Athletic Hall of Fame Committee are excluded from nomination during their term of service.
  3. No more than ten (10) candidates may be enrolled within the first year of the Brewster Academy Hall of Fame and no more than three (3) each year thereafter. This excludes the induction of teams.
  4. The Brewster Academy Hall of Fame selection committee will work with the Development/Advancement Office to present the inductees with appropriate recognition.
