— Janna Anctil, a Wolfeboro resident and junior at Brewster Academy, helped her team win the bronze medal at the recent Junior Olympics held in New Orleans. In earning the bronze, Anctil scored the lone goal of the game, helping to defeat the "yellow" team 1-0 to secure the win. For Anctil, it was her second trip to the Junior Olympics and her second bronze medal.

Anctil was the only New Hampshire athlete selected to play field hockey in the 2005 Junior Olympics. She was selected by US Field Hockey based on her performance at the National Futures Tournament held in Virginia Beach, Virginia, in July.

In the Junior Olympic field hockey competition, there were eight teams of 15 athletes competing.

"Janna continues to prove her field hockey abilities and combines this with the dedication to work hard and a positive mental attitude," said Kim Yau, varsity field hockey coach at Brewster. "This is an excellent achievement and Janna is well deserving of this honor. I am confident that Janna's talent, drive, and determination will lead to much success in her future."

Back home in Wolfeboro, Anctil continues to follow the summer workout programs set-up by her Brewster Academy field hockey and ice hockey coaches while also working as a counselor with the Wolfeboro Parks and Recreation Department's summer program.

The field hockey competition took place August 3-6 at Tulane University. The Junior Olympic Games bring together more than 10,000 athletes competing in 23 sports.
