Happy 2008 team poses for fans after final game of their championship season.

2008 Varsity Team

The Team

The 2008 season marks the fourth season of Brewster softball following a 24-year hiatus. The team competes on the varsity level with Lakes Region League schools. The season begins in March and runs through the end of May. Game days are Wednesday and Saturday with four practices a week.

Players have individual goals that are a part of their decision to play; however, a team goal is to help each member of the team develop an appreciation for the sport while contributing to the best of their ability. The program's goals are to have fun while maintaining fitness, building skills, and developing game strategy.

2008 Season Recap

Brewster softball took the Lakes Region Championship with a final victory over Kimball Union Academy 19-1.

It was an amazing season with a great group of hard-working athletes that had been so close to winning the championship for the last two years.
Teraysa White returned for her third season of pitching and carried the team on her shoulders with her third consecutive MVP trophy. She threw strikes and her speed kept opposing batters on their heels. Her best effort was in the New Hampton game with the championship on the line, having lost a heartbreaker in extra innings there last year. She dominated off the rubber and was the clean-up hitter in the batting order driving in multiple runs.

Megan Doyen did the catching all season and she was a true backstop, showing strong defensive skills and throwing out would-be
base-stealers. She also was the lead-off hitter, bunting and slapping hits all over the diamond. Megan also won the coaches award
for her constantly positive, gutsy, do-what-it-takes-to-win attitude.

In the MIP department, senior Emily Lesko took the honors, as she anchored second base for most of the season and with her confidence
growing game by game, she played strongly defensively and offensively.

Honorable mention would also have to go to Katie Brewster, who played multiple positions, and was our top outfielder; and to Megan Edson who
played shortstop, batted second in the order, and was one of our most experienced players.

We won't soon forget the great bus rides, pizza on Crescent Lake, the great come-from-behind-win over Holderness, Hannah Pope in left field, the expertise of Coach Ames, and all the great memories made in a championship season!
Way to go girls!

Coach P

The Coach

Coach PhotoT.J. Palmer takes charge of the softball program with over 45 combined seasons of coaching experience in soccer, ice hockey, and girls' basketball, including eight seasons of baseball coaching.

Working with the beginner level of athletes, he led the third soccer team to three consecutive undefeated seasons; on the very competitive varsity level he led the ice hockey team to six consecutive top 10 Hockey Night in Boston rankings. As the assistant coach for the new softball program last year, Coach Palmer stressed fundamentals, along with an aggressive style of base-running and a full-team approach to winning. With solid returning players from last year and new players on campus thisyear, it should be a fun, competitive season for girls softball! See you on the field!
