Girls' Basketball

Girls' Varsity Team 2007-08

The Team

The Brewster Academy girls' basketball program competes in the Lakes Region League of New Hampshire and Vermont. Although we are a Class C Team, we are developing our program by competing against many Class A and Class B schools.

Our overall program goals are to support each other's successes both on and off the court, for each player to play her potential everyday, and to provide opportunities for the players to pursue basketball at a higher level.

The Brewster Academy girls' basketball team is a very caring and supportive team both on and off the court. There is a strong sense of family commitment to each other, and there also is uniqueness in the ability to balance fun, hard work, and support for each other.

The Coaches

This season marks an exciting new era for Brewster Girls Basketball. Mike Jacobs will be taking over the program as the new head coach, and he is very excited about his new position “I am really looking forward to working with this team. We have a lot of returning players that made solid contributions last year, and we have some young players that I am expecting to step into key roles.” Mike has been teaching math and coaching basketball for 7 years. He has coached both girls and boys at the JV and Varsity levels, and he has been a regularcoach at the Chris Ford Basketball School. A native of Missouri, he played at Chillicothe High School and Westminster College. He hopes to bring a Midwest work ethic and a commitment to excellence to the program.

An Athlete Speaks

I came to Brewster Academy last year with no intention of joining the girls' basketball team. I had made that decision after playing as a sophomore for my old high school because of a difficult season.

Playing for Brewster was a greater learning experience than any other team I had ever been apart of. Now as a returning student, I will work hard to make this year more successful than the last. Although we are a young team, we have gained many new girls who I know will play a major role in our success. Our team players have come together despite any differences there might be, which is what I consider a winning team. I’m looking forward to seeing the outcome of the hard work and effort we have put in during every practice. By the end of the season, I hope to know that we gave it our all, learned and improved from our mistakes, and consider this basketball season to have been a rewarding experience.
