Girls' Ice Hockey News

 

Junior, Kristina Vikdahl, Stragnas, Sweden, played for and was named assistant captain of the Swedish U 18 National Team before coming to Brewster Academy. Vikdahl dreams of representing her country at the 2010 Olympics. She hopes that the level of competition and the exposure that prep school hockey offers will help her achieve her dream.

All New England Selections 2005-2006

Senior, Carole LeBlanc (Grande-Digue, New Brunswick) and juniors Kate Buesser (Wolfeboro, NH) and Kelsey Kirker (MIlton, VT) have been selected for the All New England Girls' Ice Hockey Team.

Brewster Girls Come Out Strong at Kanata Tournament (November 2005)

Kim Cooper (Wolfeboro), Kate Buesser (Tuftonboro, New Hampshire), and Carole LeBlanc (Grande-Digue, New Brunswick) all received MVP awards for tournament play. The Lady Bobcats won three games and tied one game. These were their first games of the the 2005-2006 season.

Bobcat Players Compete in Atlantic Challenge Cup

The Team
Jillian Campbell, Emilie Arseneault, and Suzanne Fenerty recently represented their provinces at the Atlantic Challenge Cup.

Jillian Campbell (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia), Emilie Arseneault (Rothesay, New Brunswick), and Suzanne Fenerty (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia) recently competed in the Atlantic Challenge Cup. The Canadian tournament is the first step in being selected to the Canadian National Team and then the Olympic Team. The Cup regroups the best players from the Atlantic hockey provinces in an annual best on best competition.

In 2004, Emilie Arseneault won the Hard Hat Cup for Team New Brunswick, awarded to the player on each team selected to be the "best overall contributer" by her teammates. Suzanne Fenerty won the Hard Hat Award at the 2004 Canadian National Championships.

Buesser and Berman PhotoBuesser and Berman Honored on Moving-Up Day

On May 23, the Brewster community came together to celebrate Moving-Up Day, a celebration of student achievement preceding graduation. The ceremony is dedicated to recognizing outstanding academic achievement and community involvement. Kate Buesser '07 (Tuftonboro, New Hampshire) and Rachael Berman '06 (Highlands Ranch, Colorado) were recognized for their outstanding efforts. Buesser received the Lower School Science Award and was named to the Academy's Judicial Board. Berman received the Colby Book Award for outstanding academic achievement and community involvement. She also was named to the National Honor Society and elected to the Academy's Judicial Board.  To complete a truly memorable afternoon, Rachael was elected vice president of the student body.

Carole LeBlanc Three-Time All Star

For the third consecutive year Carole LeBlanc '06 (Grande Digue, New Brunswick) has been named to the New England Prep School Girls' Hockey Association All-Star Team. She is the first player from Brewster Academy to receive this honor three times. LeBlanc had an outstanding year compiling 21 points and leading the team to a 17-6-2 record. LeBlanc is the all-time leading scorer among defensemen at Brewster Academy. She has recorded 76 points in three seasons as a Bobcat. LeBlanc will co-captain the 2005-2006 team with Kate Buesser '06.

Buesser Earns a Spot at Olympic Development Camp in Lake Placid

Kate Buesser '07 (Tuftonboro, New Hampshire) was one of six forwards from New England selected to the Olympic Development Camp in Lake Placid, New York.  She will spend a week this summer competing against the best 15 and 16 year-old players from the United States. The Olympic Development Camp is the first step to becoming a member of the U.S. Olympic Team.

Ashley on the IceAshley Trimble '02 Named Second Team CCM All-American

Ashley Trimble a junior at Manhattanville College was named a Second Team CCM All-American. Trimble is an outstanding defensemen and also an offensive threat. She had 4 goals and 18 assists on the year; she currently holds the Manhattanville all-time record for scoring among defensemen with 61 points. Trimble was named captain of the 2004-2005 team and helped the Valiants to a 22-4-2 overall record and an appearance in the NCAA Division III Quarterfinals.

Trimble enjoyed a tremendous career at Brewster Academy. She was named to the New England Division II All-Star team two times, compiled 45 points in two seasons, and led the Bobcats to a New England Championship in 2001 and an appearance in the finals in 2002.
