Girls' Lacrosse

Varsity Team 2008

2006 Lakes Region Champions

The Team

The Brewster girls' lacrosse program began in 1985 and attracts about 40 girls who participate each year at either the varsity or junior varsity level. Both teams play a full schedule against other teams in the Lakes Region League. The season begins in March and runs through the end of May. Game days are Wednesday and Saturday with four practices a week. Each year players have the opportunity to play in the Lakes Region Classic Game and to be nominated as a Lakes Region League All Star. Other special awards are given at the spring athletics sports banquet.

Players have individual goals that are a part of their decision to play; however, a team goal is to help each member of the team develop an appreciation for the sport while contributing to the best of their ability. The program's goals are to have fun while maintaining fitness, building skills, and developing game strategy. Players graduating from Brewster often stay involved with the sport at a competitive or club level.

Coach Parker continues to have a love of sports and overall commitment to fitness. She was a member of the Boston women’s club team for three years. She is a tri athlete and a marathon runner. She believes that team sports teach some of life’s most important lessons and that fitness is essential to good health and positive self-esteem. "(At the JV level) we bring together athletes that have a wide range of experience with the sport. It is a wonderful opportunity for those with experience to develop their leadership skills in addition to improving their game.
