Boys' SoccerBoys' Varsity Soccer 2007
The TeamBrewster boys' soccer competes in District II of the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC), also known as the Lakes Region League. Brewster competes against many of the top prep schools in Northern New England. The goals of the boys' soccer program are for the program to be as competitive as possible in interscholastic competition and to develop players' skills and tactics to their highest level. A number of recent Brewster graduates have gone on to play for college varsity teams. 2007 Season Recap The Boys Varsity Soccer team finished the season with five wins, eight losses and two ties. Though disappointed with their overall record the Bobcats learned to deal with adversity as injuries mounted, the temperature dropped and strong opponents challenged them on a weekly basis. In the face of that adversity Brewster was defined by its athleticism, physical style of play and relentless approach to the game. This was never more evident than when the Bobcats hosted league rival New Hampton. In the final fifteen minutes of the hotly contested match the Brewster erased a two-goal deficit and pulled out an improbable, come from behind victory. Seniors and post-graduates Charles Abouo, Tone Brady, Damon Edwards, Ian Kaye, Thitaphat Ngernsutivorakul, Pedro Vasquez, Kevin Whelan and Tyler Wood will be missed for their dedication to the program and all around skills. However, co-captains Luke Apfeld and Shaka Pilgrim, second leading scorer Devan Bailey, coaches’ award winner Soma Takahashi and most improved award winner Louis Caron headline a large group of returning players that look to make Brewster a team to be reckoned with in 2008. In his free time he enjoys being with his family, biking, running, and playing and coaching soccer.
