Desktop Publishing and Computer Graphics

Above and beyond the laptop computer, Brewster Academy makes it possible for our students to learn in the most exciting fields in computer arts and technology today. We have two full lab environments, giving our students extensive access both to Apple iMac and Power Macintosh G3 and G4s and to the software used by the most professional graphic and multimedia designers in the business today.

In our desktop publishing and journalism lab, students learn the essentials of good journalism and writing for publication, as well as how to scan and edit text, place text into page layout formats, and create appealing, professional materials. Our students do all the layout and design of the Brewster school newspaper, The Brewster Browser. They also design and lay out Outcroppings, a school literary journal, and the Winnipesaukean, our school yearbook.

In our computers graphics lab, our students learn how to use Adobe Photoshop, Bryce 3D, iMovie, and iDVD, as well as other software. With these programs, students learn full graphic and multimedia design, mastering these techniques and applying them to full motion animation, up to and including digital media and the mastering and editing of movies.
