Curriculum Authoring ToolsSM

The Curriculum Authoring ToolsSM (CATs) were created to assist teachers in the development and delivery of a highly evolved, all-inclusive curriculum that not only defines what students will learn, but also how students will learn through defined instruction. The CATs allows teachers to integrate the use of research-based teaching practices, differentiated instruction, classroom management, authentic assessment, and technology into a curriculum that is coherent throughout.  What this means for students is a curriculum tailored to meet their needs with no surprises. The path of the curriculum and how students will be assessed is not a mystery. When teachers are able to make the students aware of where they are going and what they will be asked to do, students are able to take control of their learning.

The CATs bring together in one format what we have learned from quality research about the best ways to teach and learn. The following graphic shows some of the functions of the tools. The software is a great example of the way we pay attention to what is necessary to truly leverage the small classes and the expert skills and experience of our faculty.

"The curriculum tool lets me see where the class has been and where it's going!"
