Brewster ClubsGet Clubbed -- Each year Brewster offers a variety of clubs to augment daily academic and athletics programs and weekend activities. The types of clubs on campus are based on student and faculty interest, and new clubs are added each year while other clubs may take a hiatus for a year or so until students revitalize interest in a specific club. Early in the year at an assembly or community dinner, students have the opportunity to promote existing clubs and introduce new clubs as well as solicit student membership and faculty leadership. The following list includes recent active clubs.
Brewster Student ClubsNo high math skills and no expensive equipment required. Just a simple device to help you know what you are looking at when you look up into the night sky. Gain an appreciation of the real scale of the universe and learn how to use a "Star and Planet Locator". A service club dedicated to the positive growth and development of children in the Brewster, Wolfeboro and World community The Mission of Club 25, if you should choose to accept it, is to spend the year watching 25 of the IFC's 250 best movies ever made. Every Saturday a different advisor from Club 25 hosts a movie night in which one of the greatest films ever made is viewed. Members don't need any experience just a willingness to learn fun dances and participate in short shows. This club is dedicated to enriching the lives of day students at Brewster Academy. The DOWN is Brewster's Improvisation group. We develop short comedy sketches through the lost art of improvisation and when we're bored we play Improvisation games like the ones you see on Whose Line is it Anyway. Look for us at this year's Coffee Houses, especially our end-of-the-year performance. The purpose of this service club is to raise student awareness of the harmful effects of drugs and alcohol. Additionally students in this club will help educate and remind others of the school policies regarding all aspects of drugs, alcohol, tobacco, and prescription medication. Faith Community is a Christian service club. We serve the greater Brewster community and beyond through prayer support and hands on service. We do a yearly service trip to prepare the Thanksgiving Day meal at Boston Rescue Mission and conduct the Brewster Christmas Service as well. The fishing Club is a club of students, faculty, staff, and friends that revels in the art and sport of fishing. Anyone in the community is encouraged to be a part of the club as members are always on the water and love company. Year round Fishing, Fly Tying, and various environmental "Fish Focused" activities are all options for club members, equipment is not necessary to join. The Brewster Academy GSA (Gay Straight Alliance) is a student club on campus that helps to create more awareness and acceptance of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered issues on campus. The GSA works every year in advocacy by supporting "The Day of Silence" and "Transgendered Day of Remembrance". Other events include movie nights and trips to Boston Youth Pride. The Interact Club is the high school branch of the Rotary Club. The campus club offers students an opportunity to get involved with community and international projects that benefit others. Recent activities include a UNICEF Project, phone bridge calls to Russia and a fundraiser to benefit Tsunami victims. The Knitting and Crocheting Club meets Monday's in the mezzanine from 5:30-7 p.m. Members are welcome to come for the whole time or join knitters between other Monday night commitments. There are experienced knitters and those who want to learn -- some with a project in mind and others who are looking for ideas. The paintball club is for experts and novices alike. We are here to get ever one down to the field and show them a good time. If your an expert or have never played before, but are interested then this is the club for you. Members share books and genre of what they are reading. Our Mission is to promote and announce all things Yankee Baseball related. |
