HOWL Chorus on the Road

January 26, 2008 -- HOWL members traveled to the University of New Hampshire to perform the "Harmoniemesse" of Franz Joseph Haydn with the University of New Hampshire Concert Choir and Symphony Orchestra and select high school choruses.

Director Andy Campbell offered the following post-performance comments:

“I just wanted the Brewster community to know that HOWL did a fantastic job of representing our school at our Choral Gala yesterday. It wasn't easy. It's trying, tedious work to rehearse all morning and all afternoon. But to find the energy and enthusiasm to then beautifully perform a major choral work in the evening is astonishing. Our Brewster team was focused and worked hard all day long and it paid off. I was so proud of them. It was also announced that HOWL was doing another Haydn Mass at Carnegie Hall in New York in the spring – I'm sure the other 250 singers were impressed. How gratifying it is to have Brewster Academy excel and shine in cooperation instead of competition. Everyone at the gala came home a winner. Thank you, HOWL.”

HOWL member Ryan Cooper ’09 added, “The HOWL trip to UNH was an amazing experience. As a junior, this was my third trip to the invitational concert, and I think that it gets better and better every time. Dr. Kempster, the UNH choir director, is as musically gifted as he is hilarious. How he manages to conduct a choir of more than 300 angsty teens time-and-time again is simply beyond me. I look forward to my fourth and final concert under his tutelage in my senior year.”
