Learning for the 21st Century and Beyond As
you can imagine, keeping up with technology is not easy. It changes every
day. The computer you bought just three years ago is now considered obsolete.
And who listens to CDs anymore with the advent of MP3 players?
Though keeping up is a challenge, Brewster has met—and even exceeded—expectations for high-tech teaching and learning through the creation of impressive new spaces. The Wilson Center for Teaching and Learning is one such facility. Attached to the Academic Building and facing the lake, the Wilson Center contains upper school classrooms, team areas, and the Kenison Library. With holdings that include more than 32,000 books, 90 current periodical subscriptions, and subscriptions to numerous online databases, Kenison Library is what you’d expect for a school as technologically advanced as Brewster. This two-story structure—which offers striking views of Lake Winnipesaukee, the mountains, and the playing fields—is a comfortable place to send an e-mail, pore over classroom assignments at one of our 102 study desks, or curl up with a good book. And, of course, those desks are equipped with dataports for connection to the library’s resources, CD tower, and the Internet. Located on the second floor of the library is the John Brewster Scholar Mezzanine, a section of the library reserved for students who have earned the highest level of recognition based on overall student performance, not just grades.
