Experience Exciting Weekends

Out in WolfeboroWeekends at Brewster are anything but boring. In fact, it’s unlikely you’ll ever catch yourself—or your friends—saying, “There’s nothing to do.”

If you are one of the large numbers of day and boarding students who choose to spend their weekends at Brewster, expect to participate in an exciting array of on- and off-campus activities—in addition to catching up on your homework, participating in service projects and playing sports.

On campus, you’ll find a wide variety of entertainment, such as comedy clubs, coffeehouse events, lip sync contests, dances, and Saturday night movies in the Student Center. Looking for a workout? Participate in activities such as skating, cross-country skiing, snowboarding, swimming, and the Brewster Intramural Football League (BIFL) featuring co-ed football under the lights. Community events such as SpringFest, Winter Formal, and Winter Carnival and Olympics also add to on-campus excitement.

In addition, the Student Activities Office organizes weekend adventures such as skiing, rafting, hiking, bicycling, and rock climbing trips to some of the best mountains in New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine.

You’ll be only a few hours from larger New England cities such as Boston, Portsmouth, Freeport, Portland, and Concord. All offer a wide range of cultural, entertainment, and sporting events. For example, you can:

  • Check out the diverse array of shops and restaurants in Boston’s famed Faneuil Hall Marketplace
  • See a show at the Manchester Playhouse or the Portsmouth Music Hall
  • Sample the food, watch woodworkers in action, and participate in special events during the Sandwich Fair held on Columbus Day Weekend
  • Tap into outdoor adventure at Gunstock Ski Area near the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee -- very popular for night-time snow-tubing and snowboarding trails.
  • Take a whale-watching tour out of Portsmouth Harbor
  • Stroll the cobblestone streets among the galleries, shops, historic landmarks, and diverse dining opportunities of Portland
  • Shop for new clothes among the 170 designer outlet stores and specialty shops in Freeport
  • Cheer on the Red Sox, the Bruins, the Sea Dogs, or the Celtics
  • Experience the Shaker way of life, explore space at the Christa McAuliffe Planetarium, tour the statehouse, or watch fast action at the world-class motor speedway in Concord, New Hampshire’s state capital
  • Discover Harvard Square, a world-renowned shopping, dining, cultural, and historical destination boasting historic red brick walkways
