Brewster's Buesser to Train at Olympic Development Camp Contact: Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, June 2005 Kate Buesser is one of six ice hockey forwards chosen by USA Hockey's New England District to participate in the USA Hockey Player Development Camp/Festival in Lake Placid, New York, June 18-24. For Buesser and the other athletes from throughout the country it will be a grueling week of training and competition as well as a chance to showcase top talent and allow skaters to measure themselves against others while being exposed to outstanding coaching, according to the USA Hockey organization. Buesser, who will be a junior at Brewster in the fall, was among the players selected to represent New Hampshire at the Yankee Festival of New England in March. This regional festival featured the top players from New England and the best of these players were chosen to attend the national USA Hockey Development Camp in Lake Placid. This will be Buesser's second year participating in the Lake Placid Camp. This year a team will be chosen from the Select 16 group (Buesser's group) and the Select 17 group for international competition. "Kate Buesser is an outstanding student and athlete, who is committed to academic and athletic excellence," said Jonathan Fouser, coach of the girls' varsity ice hockey team at Brewster. "Her recent selection to the United States Olympic Development Camp is the first step to achieving her goal to be an Olympic athlete." With her combination of talent, perseverance, and dedication, Kate Buesser will achieve her goal." Fouser continued "she is one of the most gifted hockey players to wear the Brewster uniform in the history of the girls' hockey program. What separates her from other outstanding players is her dedication to being the best." The Lake Placid camp is the first of three camps that Buesser will attend this summer. She was invited to travel north to Canada to participate in the Andrews and Dunn Hockey Showcase in early July. Later in the month, Buesser was invited to attend USA Hockey's New England District Development Camp in Burlington, Vermont, with other top players from New England. Buesser was selected Most Valuable Player for the 2004-2005 season at Brewster and has been selected as team co-captain, along with Carole LeBlanc of Grand-Digue, New Brunswick, for the 2005-06 season.
