— On Thursday July 12, The International Journal of Educational Technology (IJET) a leading on-line educational journal announced publication of a study conducted at Brewster Academy entitled, "Gender differences and computer competency: The effects of a high access computer program on the computer competence of young women."

Brewster is an international leader in the role of technology in secondary education, a fact that is validated by the study which showed exceptional outcomes in the area of technology skills for students who are part of Brewster's comprehensive technology program. The results are especially exciting for parents of secondary school age women, where the findings for the performance of young women were exceptional exceeding the performance of boys in traditional programs.

Of added interest is the participation of Brewster Alumnus, Carl Berelowitz on the research team that undertook the study. Carl, an undergraduate at Wheaton College worked on the research as part of his senior project at Brewster. IJET is a highly competitive journal with a 90% rejection rate on manuscripts, a fact that adds to the significance of Carl's accomplishments as a member of the team.
