Financial Aid

Affording an independent school education is significant and we recognize the sacrifices families make to have their child attend. With Brewster’s mission in mind, we recognize the value of providing financial aid as a means of building a diverse community of learners. Therefore, we encourage all families who feel they may need financial assistance to apply for financial aid and we will partner with you in the admission process to determine the level of support we can provide.

Brewster Academy currently provides $4 million in financial aid to 30% of our student body. We collaborate with School and Student Services (SSS) to determine fair and equitable financial awards. These decisions are guided by the National Association of Independent Schools, “Principals of Good Practice for Financial Aid Administration”. SSS will use a standard calculation based on the information provided on the Parent Financial Statement (PFS) by the family and determine an estimated amount a family would be able to contribute toward a private education. The Committee meets and reviews this estimate along with tax documents provided to determine an award.

Brewster is not able to fund every applicant that we would like to admit. Therefore, the admission application and financial aid application are separate processes. Admissions decisions are not based on the family’s ability to pay. Once a student is admitted the financial aid committee decides whether they can meet their need.

Process for US Students

Families must apply online by visiting School and Student Services (SSS) and completing a Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS). The Brewster School code is 1828. If the PFS does not contain information for both natural parents, the non-custodial parent must complete a separate PFS. In the case of remarriage, a step-parent’s assets are considered keeping in mind the obligations of their natural child/children. Should a court order be in place in a divorce that states payment obligations please attach this document under “other documents” in the SSS web site.

1. Complete a PFS

2. Upload all other documents required

  • 2018 W2 only (no other years required)
