Curvey Scholars
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO BECOME A CURVEY SCHOLAR?
All freshman applicants who reside in the Lakes Region are eligible for consideration to be a Curvey Scholar. Curvey Scholars are selected for this four-year opportunity based on their family’s demonstrated financial need, their academic, athletic, and co-curricular accomplishments, and for their personal qualities of integrity, work ethic, and good character.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A CURVEY SCHOLAR?
Curvey Scholars are ambassadors to Brewster Academy, leaders to their peers in the community, and represent the Academy with dignity and honor by demonstrating their best selves in all that they do. Scholars and their families meet with members of the Curvey family throughout the academic year. Returning Curvey Scholars serve as mentors to new Scholars, supporting new students in their adjustment to life at Brewster. Scholars have represented top leadership positions at Brewster and have attended selective universities such as Brown, Colgate, George Washington, Lehigh, and Villanova.
HOW IS THE FINANCIAL AWARD DETERMINED?
Curvey Scholars receive a four-year scholarship based on their demonstrated financial need which is reviewed annually. A family must complete the financial aid application process each year and awards can adjust accordingly.
The Curvey Scholar Program has provided life changing opportunities for students from the Lakes Region of New Hampshire since 2009.
Curvey Fellowships
THE PROGRAM
The goal of the fellowships is to help students gain valuable life experience through travel. Through this opportunity, students broaden their perspectives, pursue their interests in a hands-on way, and further develop their personal values.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR A CURVEY FELLOWSHIP?
All Curvey Scholars are eligible to participate in a Fellowship post junior year at Brewster and/or through their sophomore year of their college experience.
WHAT DOES A CURVEY FELLOWSHIP OFFER?
Curvey Scholars can design independent travel experiences to any location of their choosing within the United States and Canada. There are no set parameters in terms of focus or theme for the Curvey Fellowships; students will be encouraged to plan travel experiences that are of genuine interest to them. Upon returning to Brewster as seniors or later as alumni, students are encouraged to reflect with the community on what they learned and accomplished from their experiences.
HOW DO I PURSUE A FELLOWSHIP?
Students must complete an essay for consideration with an accompanying budget plan. The James C. Curvey Endowed Program Director will work with each student to guide their efforts and final approval.
The James C. Curvey Endowed Scholarship Fund for Brewster Academy at Villanova University
WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR THIS SCHOLARSHIP?

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A CURVEY SCHOLAR?
The recipient of the James C. Curvey Endowed Scholarship Fund for Brewster Academy at Villanova University receives a $15,000 annual scholarship to attend Villanova. Any Brewster student who attends Villanova with this scholarship will also receive support through the Curvey Scholarship Program at Villanova, which includes administrative counsel and participation in regular Villanova Curvey Scholar activities and events. In addition they are also eligible to receive a Curvey Fellowship during their Villanova experience. Most students have used this opportunity to travel internationally. Recipients are representatives of all the makes up their experiences at these two schools— Brewster, where we strive to pursue lives of purpose, and Villanova, where students are encouraged to “become what you are not yet.”
