Documenting your bequest:
Each year alumni, alumni parents and grandparents, friends of the Academy, faculty and staff include Brewster in their estate plans. Many decide to document their gifts allowing Brewster to thank them during their lifetime by welcoming them to the 1887 Society.  

Here are some good reasons to consider informing Brewster Academy of your plans:

Documenting your intentions will help to ensure your philanthropic goals are met and will allow us to keep you apprised of new programs or developments that may impact your plans.

Estate gifts are a crucial source of continuing support for the Academy. Upon documenting your bequest, the estimated value will count toward current fundraising goals and will inspire other alumni, parents, grandparents, faculty, staff and friends to follow in your footsteps.

Documenting your intentions will allow the Academy to recognize you now for your future gift. Upon documenting your bequest intention, you will automatically be enrolled as a member of the 1887 Society. As a member of the 1887 Society, you will be invited to special Academy events and will receive special recognition in the Annual Report. If you wish, you may elect to decline membership or remain anonymous.

By documenting your intentions, you are in no way entering into a legally binding or irrevocable gift agreement (unless you enter into a binding agreement for specific reasons). You retain the flexibility to change your plans should your circumstances or priorities change. As a courtesy, we kindly ask that you notify us should you update your plans for Brewster.

Completed Statement of Gift Intent and a copy of one of the following documents (if available):

• The portion of your will or trust document referencing Brewster Academy
• The portion of your beneficiary designation form with available pertinent plan information (plan type, name of account owner, plan administrator, most recent market value information)
• A signed gift agreement or gift letter detailing the use of your gift by Brewster
