AIR FILTRATION: See “PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES” below.
ATHLETICS, POSITIVE CASES: Athletic Directors from Lakes Region League Schools will communicate any positive cases of COVID-19 on their teams ahead of interscholastic competitions. The ADs will determine an action plan based on the circumstances presented.
ATHLETICS, SPECTATORS: Lakes Region League protocols allow schools to determine individually if they would like to allow outside spectators (including parents) at their home games.
- Brewster is currently allowing all spectators at HOME games. (See protocols below.)
- Masks are optional at this time.
- If you wish to be a spectator at Brewster’s AWAY games, please check the opposing school’s website prior to attending competitions for their school’s individual protocols.
- Individual schools may set capacity limits for their facilities.
- Given the still-changing landscape of COVID-19, the Lakes Region League, and/or each individual member school, reserves the right to modify protocols at any time.
CLOSE CONTACTS: See “POSITIVE CASES AND CLOSE CONTACTS,” below.
DAY STUDENTS: Day Students have an assigned dorm for social events and other campus activities. Also, Day Students may request overnight dorm visits through the deans. There may be times (a spike in positive cases in a certain dorm, for example), when Day Students will be asked NOT to be in their assigned dorm and instead use the Estabrook or Rogers as a gathering space when not in class.
DINING: The Estabrook and Palmer Cafe at the Rogers building will be open for dining. If a dorm or team has an uptick in positive cases, they may be asked to eat in the Bobcat Den (in the basement of Estabrook), spaced from one another.
DORMS: See “VISITING OTHER DORMS,” below.
HAND SANITIZER: See “PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES” below.
HVAC SYSTEMS: See “PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES” below.
MASKS: Masking is currently optional for indoor spaces. Masks are available at entrances to the Academic Building, the Estabrook, the Rogers Building, and the Smith Center. We will continue to monitor public health guidance and the state of the virus in the local area and will tailor our masking expectations accordingly. UPDATED 9/23/22
POSITIVE CASES AND EXPOSURE TO COVID-19: Brewster Academy will follow CDC recommendations with regard to isolation periods, masking, and testing for any community member who has tested positive for COVID-19 or has been exposed to the virus. Brewster will require that roommates of any student testing positive for the virus follow CDC guidelines for exposure to the virus. Updated 9/12/22
PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES: All classrooms are regularly cleaned and various enhanced air filtration systems are in place in all campus HVAC and air handling systems, classrooms, and dorm lounges to help mitigate the spread of airborne illness. Hands-free hand sanitizer stations are available throughout campus.
TESTING: Students experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 should avoid public spaces and contact the Health Center as soon as possible for testing.
TOWN ACCESS: Students are allowed access to downtown Wolfeboro and may dine inside at restaurants. We ask them to practice good COVID safety measures (distancing, masking) to the extent possible. Brewster enjoys a friendly relationship with our neighbors and local businesses, and students should respect any COVID protocols individual businesses have posted. Access to town may change as the number of cases on campus and in our local area change. Any changes will be communicated via email and on the Portals.
TRAVEL: There are no travel restrictions for the Brewster community at this time, but as with other protocols, this could change if the state of the pandemic changes.
VACCINATIONS: Brewster requires that all students be vaccinated for COVID and up-to-date on all the recommended boosters (Read updated guidelines here). All employees are also required to be vaccinated and up-to-date. Medical and religious exemptions will be considered. Proof of vaccination should be shared with the Health Center via Magnus on the Parent Portal (students) and Human Resources (employees). Everyone should also report when they have received their booster shot(s). We also recommend that students have a copy of their vaccination card with them or a photo of the card on their phone.
VISITING OTHER DORMS: Students are allowed to visit other residence halls this year, within existing school rules.
WOLFEBORO: See “TOWN ACCESS” above.
