Art Cat: While working on one of our projects this year in Digital Photography, this student challenged themselves with a hard to shoot theme for a collection of photos. They not only captured photos that showed an understanding of composition in photography, but also creatively edited them, creating a striking set of photos. For his hard work in the class this fall, the Digital Photography Art Cat goes to Harry Papenfus ’24!
Art Cat: As teachers we form structured assignments and we sometimes forget how creative your young minds are. With each assignment in the 2023 Everything Painting class, this student has pushed her ideas to the next level making every work of art truly unique. When one project is wrapped up she is immediately eager to dive into the next! She will impress you every time, the Everything Painting Art Cat goes to Margo Morozova ’26!
Art Cat: Exploring the many different art offerings at Brewster can be challenging for many students. Being willing to take risks and being creative can seem like stepping out of your comfort zone for most. This student always comes to class ready to try new things, and jump into any project. She always works at her best, producing excellent work and typically being one of the first finished. She is always eager to help other students if they need help and is always prepared to go first when presenting final projects. This week the Fundamentals of Art, Art Cat goes to Pia Gonzalez Jimenez ’27!

Art Cat: When assigned our first project this year in Digital Photography, this student set out to hand in work far exceeding the parameters of the assignment: working to get multiple shots of each technique, editing those shots to better the look of their photos, and seeking advice on which photo best exemplified each category. For her exceptional work in the class this fall, the Digital Photography Art Cat goes to Charlie O’Connor ’26!
Art Cat: The Art Department’s Painting classes began with a one-point perspective painting project. This project begins in a very structured way, but then evolves with each artist. This artist followed the rules of drawing by mapping out her painting in one-point perspective, but then, as she developed her composition, she took risks and found freedom in creating her own unique work of art. We are impressed by her journey of taking artistic liberties during this first painting project. The Everything Painting Art Cat goes to Anna Simon ’25.
Art Cat: This student joined our Acting Monologue Class this fall and made an impression with their very first performance. The challenge was to present a silent monologue—to tell a short story without any words. This student was able to create and communicate their entire story without speaking a single word. Great work, Aya Brown ’25!
