Brewster Announces Fall 2023 Athletic Awards
Suzanne Morrissey

Director of Athletics Connor Wells recently announced the Athletic Awards for the fall season. And what a season it has been! In a powerful, emotion-filled recap, Coach Wells said, “We hosted first-ever fall regattas with hundreds of competitors and spectators in attendance. We won games coming from behind in the fourth quarter. We faced near defeats even when giving our best and full effort.”

He continued, “We recognized Bobcats of the Week for exceptional performances and core value representation. We won gaming tournaments. We raced hard on feet and wheels on rocky trails and muddy courses. We fixed bikes, got back on and rode even harder. We took part in international competitions at prestigious Head Races. We sailed in minimal wind, and among heavy gusts. We PR’ed. We won more games in the fourth quarter. We won league championships…again. We set course records by driving the ball straight, far, and finishing our opportunities. We won league championships and trophies…again. And, sometimes, we lost.  We supported our fellow Bobcats on the sidelines. We cheered loudly. We lived lives of purpose.”

With 37 wins and 37 losses, Bobcat teams tied the fall season, “but we won the tie breaker—outsourcing our opponents 244 to 180,” Coach Wells said.

Because the awards gathering took place on November 10, the day before Veterans Day, Coach Well paused for some meaningful words said about veterans and added, “Let’s all thank a Veteran today,” before unveiling the awardees (listed below). Congratulations to all our student-athletes for their hard work and drive in their sports, and their dedication to their teammates. Go Bobcats!
