Winter Athletics Awards Announced

Winter Athletics Awards Announced
Suzanne Morrissey

Brewster’s Athletics Department recently awarded its Winter Sports Awards to 37 student-athlete honorees. “It has been an impressive winter season for Brewster Athletics,” said Director of Athletics Connor Wells at the awards ceremony. “With 13 teams competing inter scholastically this term, in our team sport competitions, Brewster currently sits with an overall winter record of 114-61-3.” (At presstime, some Bobcat teams were heading into championship playoffs, which we hope only adds to the win column for the season!)

At the ceremony, Wells noted a Girls’ JV Basketball team that “does not lose,” the Team Torque robotics team that went to Brewster’s first state qualifying competition, and the Bobcat hockey teams being thrilled to be back on their home ice at the beautifully renovated Pop Whalen Ice Arena. Another major highlight for Brewster Athletics was the excitement of the Boys’ Prep Basketball program playing at TD Garden in January at the Andrew James Lawson Foundation Invitational (and its win there over Worcester Academy).

As Wells stresses at every season’s athletics awards ceremony, winning games on the scoreboard is not the only way that Brewster measures success in the athletic arena. “Winning is simply the product of the good and earnest work that has already been done,” he said. “The will to win and to always try our best is important, but even more vital is the way in which we compete, and the exceptional character we model as Bobcats on a daily basis.” He went on to encourage Brewster’s students to “continue to improve and set the example as members of Bobcat Nation…always in an uplifting manner. Let’s continue to be proud to be Bobcats, always.”
