With the spring right around the corner, the Athletic Department relishes the chance to celebrate a college lacrosse standout Alex Weiss ’16. Weiss, a Tuftonboro native and Brewster lifer, is in his senior year playing in the lacrosse program at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn. He  was a known local product in the youth sport circuit in the greater Wolfeboro area, and during his four years in Bobcat Nation, Weiss was a three-sport athlete competing in cross country, basketball, and lacrosse—earning 10 varsity letters over the course of his career. And in his senior year, he served as captain of the varsity basketball and lacrosse teams. After a post-graduate year at the Westminster School (Conn.), Weiss chose to attend Sacred Heart where he has been a staple in their lacrosse program.

A business major, he has two years of eligibility remaining after being granted an extra year last spring by the NCAA due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, Weiss has been accepted into the MBA program at SHU and he will play another season for the Pioneers.

“It’s so great seeing Alex have all the success he has had,” noted Brewster Athletic Director Matt Lawlor. “He was an incredibly determined student-athlete early on in his high school days here, and one of the toughest I have ever coached. To see him put together such a great college career both in the classroom and on the lacrosse field makes us all proud!”
