November’s Alumni Athlete of the Month: Bailey Kolinski ‘17, Ohio State Soccer
The streak continues for the girls soccer program and their Alum of the Month recognition as we honor our third consecutive Girls’ Varsity Soccer standout for the month of November. Bailey Kolinski, Brewster Class of 2017, earned the honors for her career at Brewster and for her successes at the Ohio State University. Kolinski, a native of Derry, N.H., was a four-year member of a very successful Girls’ Varsity Soccer program that won four straight Lakes Region League titles and a Class C NEPSAC title during her junior season. Kolinski was a three-year starter in goal for the Bobcats, and in her senior year was named a Lakes Region League All-Star, a Boston Globe All-Scholastic, and was the first Brewster soccer player in history to be named the New Hampshire Gatorade Player of the Year! She follows in a long line of outstanding goalkeepers in the program and still holds the record of shutouts for the program with 38.
“Bailey is one of the most dedicated and accomplished players in program history,” noted long-time head coach, Matt Butcher. “Even as a ninth grader she set the tone for commitment, focus, and intensity in her training— and she worked as hard as any other player to improve herself each and every day, season, and year!”
Due to her successful prep career, Kolinski had several opportunities for college, but chose to sign a letter of intent in the fall of her senior year at Ohio State where she came off her best season last year. As a junior there, Kolinski was the full-time starter and recorded two shutouts and posted 25 saves on the year. Additionally, as a Business major, she has been named to the Big-Ten All-Academic team in each of her three seasons with the Buckeyes. Although the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Kolinski is hoping to fit in her senior season this spring and enjoy a last run with her teammates.
Congratulations Bailey! Bobcat Nation is cheering for you—best of luck with your final year and beyond!
