Never before have so many talented Brewster golfers been this dedicated to their chosen sport. This summer, the Bobcats have played in summer junior leagues throughout New York, Pennsylvania, and across New England. Brewster Varsity Golf is preparing to defend their back-to-back titles, and five players have been competing and preparing for the upcoming season. As their coach, I’m incredibly proud of their efforts and excited to share this update before the school year begins.
Tyler Berkman ’25 of Potsdam, N.Y. has competed and placed well in tournaments throughout the summer establishing an insane +3 GHIN. Tyler’s highlights include International Junior Masters, heralded as the oldest international junior gold invitational in North America (73/76), 1st Flight Match Play Champion: Platinum and the Northern New York Golf Association Men’s District Qualifier (68/69), and 1st/32 Champion at the Potsdam Town & Country Club. Tyler is competing at the top level of junior and amateur golf and finding significant success. He is simply the best golfer Brewster has ever seen!
Casey Light ’25 of Snowmass, Colorado had a great summer playing golf out west. He has brought his game back and lowered his scores, but last week was epic as he got his first hole in one! He was at Snowmass Golf Club and holed out at 206 yards! Congrats, Casey.
Alistair Fleming ’25 of right here in Wolfeboro worked at a local marina for most of the summer. He is finishing his summer golf preparations in Scotland, the birthplace of the game, for a week of golf with his dad.
Will Hunter ’26 of Wolfeboro has competed in both the New Hampshire Elite Juniors and New England Juniors. He has placed well, winning tournaments on the Cape and recently at the Nippo Lake Golf Club in Barrington, N.H. in the very competitive 16-year+ division.
Will Baldwin ’26 of Darien, Conn. has been working a lot this summer, competing in just a few tournaments in his home state, including the Connecticut Open Qualifier and Connecticut Junior Am. (He was also selected as one of the “18 Under 18” students to watch in Bedford New Canaan magazine’s upcoming fall education issue!)
Charlie Martin ’27 of Wolfeboro is finding significant success playing in the New Hampshire Elite Junior Tour and New England Junior Tours. He took first place in four tournaments on the Cape and the Granite State and finished in the Top 10 in all matches. In his first NH Junior Championships, as one of the youngest players in the field, he held 1st place after day one, 3rd on day two, and finished 6th overall.
Fellow sophomore CJ Klapinsky ’27 of Marion, Mass. has played nearly every day during the summer. He won his first 2 tournaments at Holly Ridge and Hyannis and ended a great season with 4 first-place finishes and two second-place finishes.
With only a few days for tryouts as we get ready for the 2024-25 school year, returning and new recruits are preparing for the fast and furious fall season. It’s a great time for Brewster Golf with so many students interested in playing, whether at the highly competitive Varsity level or the Developmental Squad. Good luck to all this season!
