Brewster is set to receive a fantastic addition to its hockey program, thanks to the generosity of Art and Cathy Coviello. As part of their unwavering commitment to our community, both here at Brewster and in the Wolfeboro area, the Coviellos have gifted us two dedicated, Brewster-branded locker rooms at the newly renovated Pop Whalen Ice Arena. These state-of-the-art facilities will offer our students a secure space to store their equipment throughout the season, enhancing their hockey experience.
With their gift, the Coviellos are now a part of the remarkable evolution of Brewster’s hockey program over the past two years. With a newly renovated home rink at the Ice Arena, the introduction of these brand-new locker rooms, and the creation of an outdoor ice rink on campus for additional practice time, Bobcat Hockey is on the rise like never before. Additionally, we’re excited to announce the launch of a JV Boys’ Hockey program, further expanding the opportunities for our student-athletes.
“Art and Cathy Coviello regularly go above and beyond for our students and community. We are tremendously fortunate to have their enthusiastic support, and we are particularly grateful for all they do to strengthen Brewster and Wolfeboro. Their generous gift to fund the Brewster locker rooms at the Pop Whalen Ice Arena reflects their unwavering dedication to the town of Wolfeboro and our students at Brewster,” says Head of School Kristy Kerin.
Art Coviello is a longtime member of Brewster Academy’s Board of Trustees. Not one to seek the spotlight, he has quietly helped to move important projects forward, including the school’s immersive study abroad program, the birth of BA International, and the state-of-the-art dance studio in the renovated Rogers Building. His hands-on approach to sharing his own professional expertise is often on display, as when he mentored students on public speaking in an Interim Studies experience and connected Brewster with his colleague and friend Laurel Richie. Richie, a DEI pioneer and marketing guru, delivered an incredible Commencement keynote address at Brewster in 2023.
