Introducing Your Senior Prefects: Ayamarie Brown ’25 and Luce Colcord ’25
Kara McDuffee

Last spring, our Brewster student body cast their votes and elected Ayamarie Brown ’25 and Luce Colcord ’25 as the senior prefects for the 2024-25 school year. Both Aya and Luce bring great leadership experience and enthusiasm to their new roles, and they are eager to welcome new students to Brewster. As we gear up for Orientation, here are welcome messages from Aya and Luce to kick off the new school year.

Aya’s message for the year:

“I’m thrilled to be one of your senior prefects this year, alongside Luce. As we inch closer to the start of the school year, I am extremely excited about the incredible journey ahead of us. Brewster is an incredible place that allows you to step out of your comfort zone and embark on new and thrilling opportunities. Last year was my first at Brewster, and it was an unforgettable start to what I know will be a remarkable journey. This year, I’m committed to helping each of you find your own path, feel at home, and make the most of every moment. I can’t wait to meet you all and share this adventure together. Wishing you a fun, safe, and memorable finish to your summer. Go Bobcats!”

Ayamarie Brown is from London, England and joined Brewster last year. She quickly made an impact with her energy and commitment to making the most of every opportunity. Last year, Aya played varsity soccer in the fall and tried something new in the winter, playing basketball for the first time. Aya wants to pursue sports media in the future, which is why she worked for the Athletics department last spring and is serving as a social media intern this year. She’s also been an active presence in Equity Week and other inclusivity groups on campus, earning her the Melissa Roja Lawlor Brewster Social Justice Award at last year’s Moving Up Day.

Luce’s message for the year:

“I’m excited to be back on campus for my fourth year as one of your prefects! As you are getting ready to go to a new place, don’t be scared. Brewster is an amazing place filled with awesome people who will support you for all your years to come. Allow yourself to experience all that Brewster has to offer in the classroom and outside the Academic Building. I can’t wait to meet all of you and I hope you grow to love Brewster as much as I do.”

Luce Colcord is a Brewster Lifer from Fremont, New Hampshire entering her fourth year at Brewster. In her time here, Luce has immersed herself in the school community, getting involved in a variety of clubs and activities. She’s been a leader in Brewster Big Friends, a club focused on local faculty children, and Brewster Best Buddies, a club focused on individuals with developmental disabilities. She’s also served as a mentor to a local middle school student for the New Hampshire Student Leadership Program. With a long history of community service and helping others, it’s not surprising Luce is interested in pursuing a career in nursing in the future. In the afternoons, she is a three-sport varsity athlete, playing soccer, basketball, and lacrosse. For her self-reliance and integrity across all of her activities, Luce was awarded the Warren P. Tyler Memorial Award in the spring at Moving Up Day.
