Fall Sports Awards

On Friday, November 8, Brewster Academy gathered at Radley Court to celebrate the accomplishments of its student-athletes and to recognize the hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship they displayed throughout the fall season. The Fall Sports Program honored athletes across multiple sports, emphasizing their commitment to teamwork and Brewster's core values both on and off the field.

Throughout the fall, Brewster athletes competed with determination and grace, taking on challenges across various sports. Whether it was battling on the soccer field, racing through muddy cross-country trails, or competing in regattas on Wolfeboro Bay, students showed remarkable resilience and teamwork. Some of the season's most memorable moments included hosting record-setting regattas, securing thrilling victories by overcoming deficits in the final moments of games, setting personal records, and winning multiple Lakes Region League championships. These achievements added another chapter to Brewster's storied athletic legacy.

This year also marked the introduction of the "Champion of Character" award, with each varsity team selecting one athlete who exemplified sportsmanship, integrity, and fair play. This new honor underscores Brewster's commitment to fostering character development in its athletes, not only within the school but also in the broader athletic community represented by the Lakes Region League.

During the Fall Sports Program, Brewster Academy recognized the accomplishments of its fall sports teams, which included mountain biking, cross-country, sailing, boys and girls JV soccer, boys varsity soccer, varsity field hockey, crew, varsity golf, and girls varsity soccer. These teams contributed greatly to the athletic community, and several athletes were acknowledged for their outstanding individual contributions.

Among the top honors presented, Hannah Ruegg was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) for sailing, while Hans Simon earned the same recognition in cross-country. Boys varsity soccer had two MVPs, Randall Preston and Yuma Okazawa, and Owen Tucker took home the MVP award for mountain biking. In crew, Anna Leroux was honored as MVP, and Alexandria Davies received the MVP award for varsity field hockey. Dylan Haycock was recognized as MVP for boys JV soccer.

The Coaches' Award, presented to athletes who displayed exceptional leadership and dedication, was given to Greeley Ward, Tori Hayden, and Madison Barrett for girls JV soccer. Hinako Higashiyama earned the award for cross-country, while Luce Colcord and Charlotte Hinchey were honored for girls varsity soccer. Abdul Manaf received the award for boys varsity soccer, and Trent DiGiovanni and Tommy Larsen were recognized for their contributions to golf and mountain biking, respectively. In crew, Evelyn Heppler and Harry Caracciolo received the Coaches' Award, while Odile Elliott was acknowledged for her performance in varsity field hockey, and Al Harith Al Shukaili was recognized in boys JV soccer.

The Most Improved Player (MIP) awards went to Caroline Pilkington and Thanchon Boonkrong for their impressive development in sailing, while William Hunter and Charlie Martin were recognized for their growth in golf. Isabella Lorusso earned the MIP award for crew, with Alexis D'Angelo receiving the honor for varsity field hockey. Wint Galloway took home the MIP award for boys JV soccer.

Two athletes, Lauren Christy and Luce Colcord, were recognized with the Career Achievement Award for their outstanding contributions to girls varsity soccer. The prestigious Tank Award, a symbol of grit and perseverance, was presented to Onwanya Padungsak for his efforts in cross-country.

As the fall season comes to a close, attention now shifts to winter sports tryouts, which will begin on Monday, November 11. Brewster's athletic community remains committed to fostering excellence both on and off the field, with athletes ready to take on new challenges in the upcoming winter season. The event concluded with a video montage showcasing highlights from the fall, offering a visual reminder of the hard work, dedication, and spirit that define Brewster Athletics.

Brewster Academy's fall sports program has once again shown the true purpose of athletics: teaching life lessons, building character, and inspiring students to challenge themselves while supporting one another. As the winter season approaches, Brewster looks forward to continued success and growth in both competition and character development.
