At Brewster, sustainability is more than a practice—it’s a mindset integrated into how we learn and live. Guided by a commitment to environmental responsibility, we empower students to make thoughtful, informed choices that support a healthier planet and community.

Local and Seasonal Dining

Led by Director of Dining Services Dan Corey, Brewster’s dining services team is committed to sustainability through locally sourced, seasonal menus; partnerships with area farms and food producers; and efforts to reduce waste.

Student Education and Engagement

Sustainability doesn’t just happen behind the scenes—students are engaged in this work throughout their classes, afternoon commitments, community service, and clubs, including the Environmental Club.

Smart and Sustainable Building

Brewster’s operations team is continually seeking innovative ways to improve and modernize our campus infrastructure. From updating older facilities to planning new construction, sustainability remains a top priority.

Learning Where We Live

Students learn the principles of sustainability through hands-on, place-based education that connects them deeply with our local environment. By exploring nearby freshwater bodies and the surrounding woodlands, students engage directly with ecosystems, studying water quality, biodiversity, and human impact.
