Keep Dancing: Brewster Launches New Partnership with Expressions Dance Academy
For students who love to dance, coming to boarding school should not mean leaving an important part of themselves behind.
This fall, Brewster Academy is making it easier for students to have both.
Through an exciting new partnership with Expressions Dance Academy of Wolfeboro, Brewster students will be able to pursue high-quality dance training right on campus as part of their regular afternoon activity experience.
And they will do so in one of the most impressive spaces on campus.
Located within Brewster’s Grayson Student Center in the Rogers Building, the Academy’s spectacular, state-of-the-art dance studio (Coviello Dance Studio) provides a bright, scenic, purpose-built setting for movement, performance, and creative expression. The new partnership brings the professional instruction of Expressions Dance Academy into that exceptional facility, creating a program that combines outstanding teaching with an environment designed specifically for dance.
It is a natural match: an extraordinary space, experienced instructors, and students eager for the opportunity to keep dancing.
Bringing Exceptional Local Expertise to Brewster
Expressions is led by owner and director Christine “Chrissy” Livie, whose career as a dancer and educator brings an impressive depth of experience to the new partnership.
Livie studied dance for more than 16 years before earning her degree in Dance from Dean College, where she was a member of the Tap and Modern Dance Companies and received the Carrie Grant Chilson Award for dance excellence.
Her advanced training has included the prestigious Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Summer Intensive in New York City and study at the Broadway Dance Center. She also trained under legendary choreographer Donald McKayle at the Boston Summer Dance Festival and has performed in settings ranging from Boston City Hall Plaza to Gillette Stadium.
Just as importantly, Livie has devoted much of her career to teaching young dancers and building dance opportunities in the Lakes Region.
Under her leadership, Expressions offers instruction across a wide range of disciplines, including ballet, pointe, jazz, lyrical, tap, modern, hip-hop, musical theatre, and competitive dance.
Now, that expertise is coming directly to Brewster students, and directly into a facility built to support high-level dance.
An Exceptional Space for Serious Training
The new partnership allows Brewster to make fuller use of a truly special campus resource.
The Coviello Dance Studio was designed to provide students with a professional-quality environment for movement and performance. Its scenic campus setting, spacious design, and purpose-built features make it an ideal home for students who want to train seriously while remaining fully immersed in boarding-school life.
By pairing that facility with Expressions’ experienced faculty, Brewster is creating something much more substantial than an occasional dance offering.
Students will have access to consistent, structured instruction in multiple disciplines each week, including ballet, musical theatre, lyrical, and jazz, along with dedicated practice time for technique, choreography, conditioning, flexibility, and individual development.
For a student accustomed to spending hours each week in a home studio, that matters.
Students no longer have to choose between the full Brewster extracurricular experience and meaningful dance training.

Serious Dance Training Built Into the Brewster Day
The program is designed for a range of dancers: students with significant previous training, students returning to dance, and those who want to develop their skills in a committed and supportive environment.
Dance combines many of the qualities Brewster values throughout its afternoon program: commitment, creativity, collaboration, discipline, physical development, confidence, and the willingness to take risks and grow.
Most importantly, dance is not being treated as something students need to squeeze into an already busy boarding-school schedule.
Participation in Expressions Dance Academy at Brewster can take the place of one three-day-per-week Brewster afternoon activity.
That means students can continue meaningful dance training while still having room in their schedules to explore another sport, activity, club, or interest.
For families who may have wondered whether attending boarding school would mean giving up a home dance studio or stepping away from serious training, the message is simple: At Brewster, you can keep dancing.
The Wolfeboro Advantage
The partnership also reflects something distinctive about the Brewster experience: our relationship with the community that surrounds us.
Brewster is fortunate to call Wolfeboro and the Lakes Region home. That location is more than a beautiful backdrop. It gives the Academy access to an extraordinary network of businesses, artists, entrepreneurs, coaches, organizations, and professionals whose expertise can enrich the student experience.
Expressions Dance Academy is a perfect example.
Brewster brings an exceptional on-campus dance facility and a community of students ready to learn. Expressions brings accomplished instructors, specialized expertise, an established training program, and deep roots in Wolfeboro.
Together, the two organizations can create an experience stronger than either could offer alone.
Our campus is intentionally connected to the community around it. When the right opportunities emerge, Brewster can bring outstanding local expertise onto campus, support local businesses and organizations, and give students access to experiences that extend well beyond the traditional boundaries of a boarding school.
For prospective families comparing schools, that matters.
Brewster offers the close-knit residential community and breadth of opportunity families expect from an outstanding boarding school while also benefiting from its location in one of New Hampshire’s most vibrant and resource-rich communities.
Expressions Dance Academy at Brewster is the latest example of that advantage in action.
