Experience Summer at Brewster

Summer at Brewster is a kaleidoscopic celebration of learning, performance, adventure, and fun. Stroll through what most would argue is the campus with the most beautiful site of any boarding school in the United States and you are sure to be struck with the level and variety of activity. Music pours from open windows, kids are collecting samples for science classes down at the lakefront, another group sits in a circle under the shade of a century-wide tree laptops in hand, the school's busses are heading out loaded with adventurers and pulling canoe and kayak trailers, and on the fields a hundred athletes are going through soccer, lacrosse, or field hockey drills. Inside and outside, all day and into the night, the campus is abuzz with scenes like these and many more. Here is a sampling of the opportunities available:

Brewster Summer Institute
This four-week pre-service professional development program is offered each summer for all new teachers at Brewster, regardless of prior teaching experience. The program is also open to non-Brewster educators. June 28 - July 23, 2010.

Brewster Academy Summer Session
With academics, technology, adventure, arts, and leadership all rolled into one program, the Summer Session is both a school and an adventure camp. Its setting on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee offers an ideal environment for this small, intensive camp/school open to students ages 12-18. In addition to taking intensive courses (including some for credit) in a variety of subject areas, including English, ESL, writing, mathematics, science, and computer graphics, students also participate in a wide range of outdoor and social activities focused on skills training and life preparation. June 27 - August 6, 2010. International students arrive two days earlier (6/25).

The Royal Thai Scholars
Since 1992, a group of students from Thailand has traveled to Brewster each summer for a 11-week orientation program that educates Royal Thai Scholars in an array of courses that include ESL (reading, writing, listening, and speaking), cultural adaptation, technology, college research, SAT and TOEFL exams preparation, writing the college entrance essay, the arts, and laboratory science classes. This is the Thai Scholars’ starting point on their long and challenging, ten-year educational journey in North America, and Brewster is the only school that gets them all at one time. At the end of each summer, the Thai Scholars enter their postgraduate years at various outstanding prep schools including Brewster.
