Brewster Artists Earn Statewide Recognition
Seventeen works of art by Brewster Academy students were recognized at the 2025 New Hampshire Scholastic Art Awards, a statewide competition that drew thousands of submissions from across the state. Judged by a panel of artists, college admissions counselors, and retired educators, the program celebrates artistic excellence and creative voice among students in grades 7–12.
The Scholastic Art Awards of New Hampshire (SAANH) is the state’s regional affiliate of the national Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, featuring 17 artistic categories—from drawing and painting to ceramics, sculpture, and mixed media. Seniors may also submit portfolios for scholarship and cash award consideration, providing valuable opportunities for students pursuing art at the collegiate level.
Brewster submitted 24 works to this year’s awards, with 17 earning state-level honors across multiple categories. The recognition reflects the creativity and curiosity that define Brewster’s visual arts program, where students are encouraged to experiment, take risks, and develop their own artistic voices. Many of the honored pieces began as classroom projects before being refined and expanded as students explored new techniques and ideas with faculty guidance.
“It’s so wonderful to see our students be recognized for their hard work, creativity, and technical skill,” said Visual Arts Faculty member Melanie Fedorowicz. “Mr. Burgess (the photography teacher) and I are happy to bring this opportunity to our Brewster students. I recommend anyone interested in art and design attend the exhibit in February. It’s truly remarkable to see high-quality, innovative art from students across the state.”
